World Poker Tour (WPT) is a weekly televised series of about 13 poker tournaments worldwide. Started in 2003 and airs on the Travel Channel, the TV program features real casino events and has helped poker and poker players to gain a wider audience. Apparently, two bracelets from the World Series of Poker (WSOP) last year is not enough for Mark Seif. The wild and enigmatic Mark Seif will go for yet another bracelet this year and he will stop at nothing in accomplishing just that.
''Ever since I started playing poker, I have had a reputation as being wild, maniac, high-action kind of fish player, the kind of guy who is a nut job at the table,'' Seif says.
''Needless to say, that can be an important and beneficial aspect of my game if everyone thinks I'm totally off my rocker and out of control and on tilt and playing like a maniac if I can be secretly in control and 
secretly be making rational decisions and doing things in my best interests that are designed to be a rope-a-dope, a la Muhammad Ali,'' he adds.
''I often try to display only my most angry and sort of frustrated emotions in an attempt to make my opponents think 'This guy's playing like a nut. My top pair is good.' And then we get all the chips in the middle, and they're looking at the stone-cold nuts, and they're thinking, 'What just happened?'''
A great strategy to say the least. But whenever he watches himself on the television, more often than not, he agrees with the lot of them.
''I'm always going, 'Why did I say that? How could I look like such an idiot? Why am I so brash?''' Seif admitted.
''Sometimes it looks bad, and sometimes I look bad and I sound bad, and I regret it later. In the end I know it's just competitiveness and my attempts to control the situation at hand. I have to cringe when I see it, but at the time, I know that I'm just trying to win,'' he concluded.
Certainly with two WSOP bracelets last year, Mark Seif is certainly having success because of his unorthodox style. Mark Seif, when you describe his poker game, is nothing close to being safe, I'll tell you that.
