eGaming Review Honors Poker Stars

eGaming Review Magazine has named Poker Stars as 2005 Operator of the Year in the recently concluded eGaming Awards for the online gambling industry held in London.

According to eGaming Review editor, Scott Longley, Poker Stars was chosen because the online poker room is "without question the online poker room to watch at the moment."

Most notable part of its success was in having a very visible list of champions to promote the room. Currently signed on to promote the site are World Series of Poker champions Joe Hachem (2005), Greg "Fossilman" Raymer (2004), and Chris Moneymaker (2003).

These champions not only give Poker Stars a tremendous visibility to fans of the game, they also give hope to those who aspire to be a champion. Both Raymer and Moneymaker won their seats to the WSOP through Poker Stars and Hachem admitted that he prepared for the tournament through his play on the site.

eGaming Review judges felt that despite not being the largest site out there, Poker Stars' performance was well above that of its competitors. Other key elements to its success are the online room's growth and its customer service.

Poker Stars was founded in 2001 and is now the world's largest poker tournament website, having recently passed the 3.5 million registered users milestone.
