The European Poker Tour, sponsored by PokerStars, is about to take its second season on the road and you can be a part of the magnificent adventure.
Last year, the EPT was an experiment that turned into the greatest thing in European poker, drawing players from all over the world and turning some of them into instant stars. Now, you have your chance to visit some of the most historic, exotic locales in Europe and compete for some of the biggest prize pools in European history.
This year, the EPT is upping the ante and doubling the buy-ins for the preliminary events from 2,000 euro to 4,000 euro. That means the prize pools will be even bigger and give satellite winners even more in return for their efforts.
The EPT also promises to be a major television event. Last year, the EPT taped only the final table of most events. This year, however, the EPT is introducing televised show tables which will provide more in-depth coverage of the poker action.
The EPT Grand Final will be held in the luxurious city of Monte Carlo, Monaco. Last year, Holland's Rob Hollink won 650,000 euro in the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final.
The European Poker Tour Schedule:
Casino de Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) - Sept. 16-17, 4,000 euro (buy-in)
Victoria Casino (London, England) - Sept. 30 - Oct.2 , £3,000
Grand Casino Baden (Baden, Austria) - Oct. 4-6, 4,000 euro
Merrion Casino Club (Dublin, Ireland) - Oct. 29-30, 4,000 euro
Casino Copenhagen (Copenhagen, Denmark) - Jan. 25-28, 30,000 kr
Casino Barrière de Deauville (Deauville, France) - Feb. 8-11, 4,000 euro

he World Poker Tour has finally decided to settle the long-simmering issue of player logos on WPT broadcasts.
Beginning with the Borgota Poker Open, players will be allowed to wear sponsorship logos in the preliminary and final table rounds of WPT broadcasts.
There had been much uproar in the past from the players regarding the WPT policy to not allow players to earn sponsorship monies and, thus, alleviate the stresses of world class, high priced tournament poker. It was the contract signed between WPT and the Travel Channel that prevented the players from wearing their sponsorships.
It seems now all has been settled and the players will be permitted to wear logos that fall in line with the standards set forth by the WPT rules.
It was an issue that has threatened to disrupt play on many of the televised WPT events. With this decision, the WPT and the Travel Channel have extended the olive branch to the players and play can now commence unhindered by the threat of a serious player boycott or other fiasco that could affect tournament poker today.

The Small Town Poker Tour (STPT) is a simple as the title states. The STPT will travel the USA, not looking for lavish venues to hold the next professional tournament, but looking for real people who love poker and find the number one amateur player.

The STPT plans to not only to tour the United States, but European, Asian and Canadian Tours are also in the works.
With the popularity of poker worldwide the tour has attracted the interest of the top names in the gaming industry."We have met with a virtual who's who in the gaming world. Poker Gazette - Think poker and you think of dim-lit, smoke-filled rooms at the back of seedy bars where villains do deals and desperate, hard-up men gamble for their lives.
But not any more. Thanks largely to the Internet, the card game loved by many a gangster has risen from its underworld roots and is taking the respectable world by storm.
So it should come as no surprise that this weekend's winner of a major international poker tournament should not be a cigar-smoking baddie with a pistol under the table and a worrying Italian accent but a middle-class television producer from Cardiff.
Iwan Jones is celebrating today after winning $750,000 in the London Open lifestyle poker tournament. He eliminated some of the world's top poker competitors and Hollywood heavyweights to win first place after a final nail-biting round in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Iwan, 35, beat 138 players at the four-day tournament at Old Billingsgate Market, including the young Swedish prodigy, Mikael Thuritz, to win the jackpot.
Not bad for someone who only started playing the game three years ago. "It was terrific," said Iwan, who plans to share the prize money with friends who helped him raise money to enter the competition.
Some of it will also go towards the new house he and his wife Sioned are buying in Cardiff in time for the arrival of their first baby in three months time.
"It was an honour to play against such a strong field of players. This was a top-class tournament and it surpassed my expectations," he said.
Iwan, who works for an independent television company in London, got hooked on poker after a night at a Swansea casino.
Jennifer Tilly, Mimi Rogers and Willie Garson further proved that Hollywood talent could tax the felt with as much acumen as those who make their living from the game.
The first ever London Open was held from August 3-6 at London's historical Old Billingsgate Market.

Everyone's in poker tournament mood, and the UK's oldest online gaming sites are finally joining the bandwagon. William Hill, one of UK's best known oldest betting institutions, is introducing its first major tournament.
The William Hill Grand Prix is set to take place from the 17th thru the 25th of October with a 450,000 pound prize pool. The first place winner will cash-in 150,000 pounds.
What makes the William Hill tourney different from many of today's modern tournaments is it has removed the traditional tournament-style blinds in hopes of improving the action at the event. The purpose of this change in play is to bring back the technical side of the game that can be neglected during blind structured events that are made designed for speed.
The tournament will feature seven heats of eight players, consisting of eight online qualifiers and 48 top international poker professionals, who will pay the 6 thousand pound entry fee.
The winner of each heat will earn a spot at the final table and the semi-finalists (runner-up from each heat) will have an additional chance to make the finals by winning at a table specifically designated for the semi-finalists. In the end, eight finalists will compete for the top prize.
Viewers will get to see the actions atthe William Hill Grand Prix poker tournament via Sky TV in early December.

The ultimate winner will take home $15 million dollars, the highest first-place professional poker pay out in the history of the sport, after beating the 18 other players.
